New Years Challenge
To start off the new year, I am running 100 miles in 8 days, capping it off with a 50k out in Bandera Texas. Today is day 4 (Tuesday) and I’ve already hit 50 miles, only 50 more to go. This will be the most I’ve ever run in this short of time, and so far I think my body is handling it pretty well. My calf’s are a little tight, and my joints are a little sore at the beginning of each run, but it quickly fades. I do notice that I have been a little more tired and cranky than usual (but that may be from being back in school as well). Today I started experiencing some of the side effects of the extra miles, I’ve got some blisters on my feet and my toes feel slightly bruised, oh and my nipples have been rubbed raw. I’ve got to remember to put body glide on them before my next run. Surprisingly, my legs have adapted well and I still feel light on my feet and am able to keep a good pace. Of course after this week I’m going to drop the mileage way back down and get back to a more balanced training cycle of swim, bike, run. Well, I’ll keep yall updated on how the week turns out. Cheers!
