Camping and Off-Season Fun

Off season has been going well. I’ve been going out on Fridays, sleeping in on Saturdays, skipping workouts and making up my own depending on how I feel. I’ve also been spending some quality time with Sarah. Friday nights are now date night. This Friday we are going to go see the new Twilight movie, God help me! I’m sure I’ll see several other men dragged there by their girlfriends or wives. Wish me luck. Anyways, I’ve been really trying to rest and recoup from the season, because before long I know that I will be back at. I think that as soon as the fall semester is over I’m going to do 2 hard weeks of heavy training to kick off the season. Right now, I’ve been doing a lot of weight lifting and crossfit workouts. Sarah’s been taking me to a new crossfit studio 3 times this week to try them out and see which one is her favorite. If anyone in Houston has any suggestions, please let me know. I guess the weight training is working as Sarah commented that I’m looking more buff than usual. She typically tells me that I look like a weakling, which I guess is true since she can always lift the same or more weight than me in the gym (at least for upper body workouts). This past weekend, as keeping with the freedom of off-season, Sarah and I along with our nephews and her family went to Huntsville State Park to celebrate my 27th birthday, yes that’s right I’m now the same age as Sarah. We had a great time and like always, when I’m around family there was enough food and deserts to feed a small army. I made vegan chili/frito pie for dinner, which everyone was surprised that it tasted so good. Then for dessert we had, are you ready for this J, marshmallows, cupcakes, cake, and my fav… double stuffed Christmas (red filling) oreos! Oh so good. I hate to admit it but I almost killed an entire bag by myself. Happy Birthday!

Besides training and camping, school is winding down till finals, but I’m busy as ever in clinic. So I have way too much free time on my hands right now when I come home from school. Yet the sad part is that I just spend most of that time laying on the couch watching TV or surfing the internet. This is what happens when I don’t have a schedule.  Oh well, I guess I shouldn’t complain and just update the blog more often.
