So, I haven’t updated the blog much. I guess the biggest reason for this is that not much has happened. Well, nothing really exciting that is. Actually, now that I think of it: I gave a speech to about 70 triathletes about tips for their upcoming season, I got a deep tissue massage from Rebecka Pailian, I was interviewed at school about being a triathlete and dental student, and got selected to be a Gold Sponsored athlete for OnUrLeft for the second year in a row. So, I guess a lot has really been going on. So , I’ll use that as my excuse for not blogging so much.
Besides all that, I’ve just been real busy with school and training. It’s been a struggle to wake up, go to school all day, then shift my focus to get in some quality training sessions. It feels like I sit in class all day and all I think about is how much I wish I could be out training, but then right when I get out from school all I can think about is how hungry and tired I am. It’s amazing how the timing of a workout makes such a big difference in the way you mentally approach the workout. And the fact that training is 80% mental doesn’t help. I know it’s self inflicted, but it’s tough trying to be a professional at two things. Some thing always has to give, but surprisingly enough I’ve been managing a full school schedule as well as 16 hours of training per week. Ok enough of my pity party. It hasn’t been that bad, and having Sarah here has really made the difference. We’ve done a great job of working out together once a week, and having a date night once a week. She even took me to a cross-fit class last week. Ugh, when it comes to functional strength we are about equal (ok she may have more strength than me). Whatever. I can deal with that. This weekend we’re headed to Austin for a bridal shower and some beautiful riding weather, and watch the 3M half-Marathon. Can’t wait!
